back from Lamezia Terme where the Refuge Fairy organized a training course for volunteers.
I thought long and hard at how to adapt the syllabus to a situation is certainly different from what most are accustomed to living in my area. Other kennel, another region, another world.
But how could I adapt the program to a reality that I knew so little? And why would I change the meaning of the message?
know the volunteers of the Shelter on Friday night, chat with them before I start removing the last doubts: the message does not change one iota, recent changes to the presentation (at 2.30 Friday night .... casserole dish, I have to sleep more) and go.
The audience is not easy, everyone is there with the best intentions but you breathe that little bit 'of natural distrust when you face someone who purports to explain things to live for twenty years. The aim is not, of course, I have not planned a lesson but a proposal, a point of view, some new idea.
few minutes later I had the distinct feeling that the air starts to change, her eyes crossing become the usual ones, which I read in the usual sensitivity, the same desire to move on, to hear what's next .
The message arrives powerful as ever. Angers, convincing, moving.
Respect, understanding, empathy does not need adjustments. For those who live in the kennel have a universal message, as strong as a hurricane.
I bring home the example of all the people I had before these two days, each in its own way a piece of perfect design.
